KiCad 6.0.11
When I change preferences like Cross-hair and Color theme - Gerber plot or any settings. It goes away after I close and Open KiCad again.
It’s not saving these preferences.
Can you post the version info. What OS are you running?
It could be a permissions issue on the config file/folder.
I am using Windows. How to get version info?
Help → About KiCad → Copy version info
In KiCad, go to Help / About KiCad.
Copy version info.
Check the file permissions on the configs.
Close KiCad, rename the config folder and then try and set preferences and see if it fixes it.
Here is version Info. I tried to rollback to KiCad 6.0.9 but that also didn’t help.

I have just tried renaming
C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\kicad\6.0 but still it’s not saving the changes I do.
Have you tried the latest 7.0.5 version and see if it fixes things. (Make a backup of your files just in case)
7.0.5 is bit difficult as other files and other guys are working with v6 so v7 is not backward compitable.
