Hi, just wondering if there are any built-in tools in KiCad I’m missing for outputting Gcode, or if using something like Flat CAM is still the way to go?
I’m a big fan of CopperCAM (been using it several years and Requests for added features gets added… Excellent support).
No cost for Free usage of it’s limited/trial-usage. Fairly easy to use and come up to speed.
That said, for One-Click integration into Kicad, I launch CopperCAM from (my) custom Plugin. In fact, I launch several App’s from the Plugin…
I see no reason for not making a Plugin to launch FlatCam (and any other app Independent of platform). CopperCAM is a Window-Based App BUT, I run it on my Mac by using PlayOnMac. There’s also, ‘PlayOnLinux’…
Vid shows Launching from Plugin (only for conveince otherwise, One-Click to launch the Executable after creating the Launcher (if using PlayOnMac).
Did not bother to expand window to show CopperCAM in action…
ADDED: To complete my thoughts… I posted this not long ago…
