Kicad logo symbol?

There is a kicad-logo footprint but no corresponding symbol so I’m worried if I drop the logo footprint in that it will be removed if/when I delete unused footprints.

There are symbols for a few other graphic footprints though.

Am I doing it wrong? Should I just pick an arbitrary component and associate the kicad logo to it?

Another way is to lock the footprint so that it won’t get deleted easily. You might also want to check the box Not in schematic so that it won’t fail the parity check.

Edit: I seem to remember there was a KiCad logo symbol in v5. Wonder what happened, did it fail KLC? Maybe I should look for it in the repo and import it into my library.

In v5 I used to just put /some/ symbol in my schematic to link to the footprint. In v6 however, there’s an option on the footprints to say it’s not in the schematic so it doesn’t get deleted. Locking works too but it has other side-effects if that’s not what you’re going for.

In the footprint’s (that’s what the logo is) properties, check “Not in schematic”.

The footprint is not removed then on PCB update from schematic.
