I am unable to find any documentation about the KiCad file formats. When I go to this page on the KiCad site about file formats:
https://kicad.org/help/file-formats/
It says this link has the file formats in a PDF:
When I go there, there is a window with what appears to be a text listing of a PDF. There is also a link that says “download file”. When I click that link, I get a basically empty page that says “Not Found” and “The resource could not be found”. The browser doesn’t present any dialog to run or save a PDF file.
I’ve tried going back and copying all the text and saving it as a PDF. When I open it, I see a table of contents but the pages are all blank.
There is also a link that says “browse files”. When I click that, I can follow it to the PDF itself in what is basically a file folder tree on this page:
https://bazaar.launchpad.net/~stambaughw/kicad/doc-read-only/files/head:/doc/help/file_formats
There is a link on that page to a file called “file_formats.pdf”, but when I download that file, it’s not a valid PDF. Also, the “last changed” column on the page shows it was last changed 6 years ago.
So, can anyone tell me where to find the file format documents in a PDF or other readable format that actually works? I’ve tried everything I can think of using the information/links on the KiCad site, and tried it in both FireFox and Chrome.
