Kicad 8 Unable to route to a SMD pad

Somewhat a new beginner here. Trying to route to all pads on a pressure sensor. On two particular corner pads I am unable to route from the pad and the adjacent pad turns green.

similarly I cannot route pin 8 to ground (pin 7 turns green). The app notes state to run symmetrical traces out of the courtyard before bending the traces. I can route to pin 5.

What does the green pad mean and why can’t I route to it?

it means that you have a drc violation, the trace is too close to a pad with different connectivity.
You should revise your drc parameters and netclasses.

(you can clearly see the limit in the thin rounded rectangles around the pins that should not overlap the adjacent pins)
