KiCad 8 "route single track" (pressing X) doesn't start routing

In the PCB Editor on KiCad 7 when you pressed ‘X’ while over a pad or track it would immediately start routing a track at that point. In KiCad 8, pressing ‘X’ just puts your tool into “routing mode” requiring an extra click to actually start routing.

I’m struggling to re-train my brain to remember that I have to click after pressing ‘X’ :frowning:

Is this a bug? Feature? Can either behavior be selected somehow?

Late edit: MacOS 13.3, KiCad 8.0.0

Unselect First hotkey selects tool in Common Preferences.

It is unselected. I have not made any Settings changes.

This is a bug that has already been fixed. If you don’t want to wait for 8.0.1 to be released later this week, download 8.0.1-rc2 from Downloads | KiCad EDA
