I am new to using a PCB design software and was watching a YT video while going along with it. Kicad 8 in 45 minutes is the title. When adding an LED assignment, his LED_THT Library shows over 50 possibilities. I have only 4. He picked LED_D3.0mm which isn’t on my list. Am I missing part of my library or do I need to add to it? If so, how do I add more to that list?
I also have around 80 LED footprnits in the LED_THT library for KiCad V8.
Maybe you made a typo in the search bar?
As an alternative, you can also install the AKL (Alternative KiCad Library) which is installable via the Plugin & Content manager.
No typo, and I do have AKL installed. (see pic)
Maybe it’s not loading?
Only 4 LEDs in Library:
I did something and now I am getting a few more on the list!
What search function are you using?
If you start from a symbol, the footprints may have a filter installed by default, and I also see “Filtered Footprints” in your screenshot. So open the footprint editor, and then browse though the footprints.
Another way to verify how many footprints you have it to use a file browser and find them on your HDD / SSD. Each footprint is a separate file inside it’s library.
That’s It! I’m now getting all 71 LEDs. I just need to get used to all the idiosyncrasies’.
Thank you all, for your input.
