KiCad 8.0 PCB Is there a way to align components to the grid

I started using a small grid. Now I changed to a larger grid, is there an easy way to align selected components to the larger grid ?

  1. Make sure you have currently the right grid selected.
  2. Zoom out and draw a big selection box around the whole schematic.
  3. Right click and choose: Align Elements to Grid from the context menu.

As far as I know, assuming you’re referring to components/footprints in the PCB Editor, KiCad does not provide a mechanism to group align those components to the grid.

There is a plugin named pcb-action-tools that shows to have that ability, but I do not believe it is compatible with KiCad 8.0.0.

It would be nice to have an Align Elements to Grid in the PCB editor too. :slight_smile:

The pcb-action-tools plugin provides a “snap-to-grid” functionality.
