Title. Double-clicking the desktop shortcut does nothing, searching for it in the Windows search bar does find it but launching it from there also does nothing. If I open task manager and launch KiCad, no process seems to be created.
If I go to KiCad’s program files folder and launch eeschema.exe, it reports that _eeschema.dll is missing.
I cannot speak in great detail, but I have Win 10 on my old laptop which I use at my lab bench. I think I have updated that to 8.08 and it MOSTLY runs OK. It seems that once or twice it was not willing to shut down normally.
How much memory do you have? Or do you forget?
But I am generally not inputting design work from that computer and I do not think I need to save anything in KiCad with it. So even if I have to force a shut down using Task Mangler that is not a big problem.
probably should have posted system specs in the first place, but I don’t think it’s the issue here:
i7-1185g7
integrated graphics
2x8gb 3200mhz ddr4
500gb nvme drive, currently have 400gb empty
thanks, I’ll give that a shot
EDIT: I’m running into an error while extracting the zip file I got from the topmost link, 0x80004005
I’m also not sure what to do with the pdb files inside
Yes I am not planning to try those because I do not seem to need them at the moment. I know about ARM versus X86_64. But I do not know about some of the other designations. I wonder whether it is:
“Do not use those downloads if you do not know what those mean/what to do with them.”
