KiCad 7.0.6 Crashes when I attempt to open ANY editor

I have just installed KiCad 7.0.6 and when I attempt to open ANY editor, the software CRASHES.

Welcome to the forum.

We cannot help you with the information you provide.

In first place, which OS?

It happens with new projects, old projects, both?

If old projects, are they made with v5, v6 or v7?

More questions will rise as you are giving more information.

Windows 10 Pro.
Initial installation, new project.
EDIT: Version 6 previously installed but deleted before Installing Version 7,
AMD Ryzen 9 7900x
32Gb Memory @ 6000MHz
Radeon Fury Graphics Card

Is your graphics card driver up to date?

In the main window, go to preferences, go to Schematic Editor - Display Options - Rendering Engine and select Fallback graphics
Then try opening the schematic editor.
The same selection exists for all the other editors

Yes the Graphics Card Driver is up to date.
Sorry about all the words I was not allowed to simply say YES!

Thanks that worked just fine.
I wish there was something in the installation instructions about some Graphics Cards not being compatible with KiCad and the solution.
Thanks again.

Up to date with a driver from Microsoft or direct from AMD ? pretty sure that Graphics card should support what KiCad needs without needing to fallback.

From here: System Requirements | KiCad EDA

  • Graphics card with OpenGL 2.1 or greater that supports hardware shaders. Check the OpenGL specs of the card:

    • Intel: cards that are reported working start from model HD2000 and higher.
    • NVIDIA: from NVIDIA support page: NVIDIA Customer Support NVIDIA support for OpenGL 2.0 begins with the Release 75 series of drivers. GeForce FX (NV3x), GeForce 6 Series (NV4x), NV3xGL-based Quadro FX and NV4xGL-based Quadro FX GPUs, and all future NVIDIA GPUs support OpenGL 2.0.
    • AMD/ATI: should work any modern Radeon GPU

Unfortunately there are several cards and laptops out there that claim to meet OpenGL 2.1 (it’s at V4 these days) but don’t do it correctly.
Laptops with dual graphics chips seem to be particularly incompatible.

i have a laptop with two cards and there drivers haven’t been updated since 2016 they just don’t exist… i7 processor one of the cards is 740m

I can confirm that the driver is Direct from AMD.
Again system insisted in a wordy answer Grrr.
Graphics Card: - Sapphire Radeon Fury NITRO 4096MB HBM PCI-Express Graphics Card with Backplate (11247-03-40G) bought August 2017.
Drivers: Adrenalin 22.6.1 Recommended (WHQL) 23/06/22.

In fact the card supports OpenGL 4.6.

Probably a silly question, but you did download from https://www.kicad.org/ ?

Yes. Oops here we go have to add more words!!

@BriComp Did you opt into data collection when prompted before? If you did, could you retrieve your
unique ID in preferences

Yes, here is the ID: bca761fa-7397-4798-9b3b-74df150c54d6
I just did a new fresh crash for you as well!

“ACCESS_VIOLATION” Crash Error : ProPresenter (reddit.com)

TL;DR: Try installing PRO Edition AMD software instead of Adrenalin Edition
