KiCad 6 Unable to add wire and not snap to grid

Hi,

Kicad 6 schematic. I previously made a PCB and am using it, and now I want to update it.
I got ‘This will be changed to new Kicad’ type message, and now I can’t add wires and there’s no snap to grid.
Can I go back to the version that worked?
Or how can I fix this, please?

For me it is unclear what you are writing.
For me can’t add wires is one problem and no snap to grid is second problem.
If you can’t add wires at all then how you noticed that you can’t snap not existing wires to grid?
In 6.0.11 I noticed that sometimes when I want to move selection I lost grid. I always fixed it by undoing last action. I remember people saying how to fix it, but I am writing now from Win7 so I don’t have V6 here to search for it.
But what means ‘This will be changed to new Kicad’. Do your schematic is updated from V5. Or may be it is updated from V6 to V7. But in that case you would not use KiCad 6 in title but KiCad 7.

Hi P,
Using V 6, when adding a wire, it won’t join to a pin or other wire.
I returned to v5, and my file opened, and I was able to carry on as I used to.
Thanks.

I started seriously using V6 two months ago. I didn’t noticed the problems you describe after converting my V5 schematics to V6. But I noticed that if (6.0.11) I moved a selection containing some texts placed off grid made my selection positioned off grid. But the bigger selection containing those texts didn’t lost grid.
When I have schematic finished I divide it into logical parts and move them far away of sheet. Then annotate everything and move all parts back. During this I never lost grid, but when I tried to move one terminal block symbol with texts describing each pin I lost grid.

Hi P,
I’ll leave it as V5 for now, and update later when I have more time to play.
Thanks.
