Kicad 6.0.5 footprint wizard - windows 11

I found that the above version of Kicad did not shows the “Selection IC package” (DIL, QFN, etc) when I try to use the footprint wizard to create a new footprint. I have deleted and re install the same version as well as other version like 6.0.4 and all give the same issue/problem.

I have deleted the appdata and few other places but no luck. I am using the Windows 11 in the laptop.

Kindly suggest what to do?

This bug has been reported several months ago, and I find it a bit curious that it is not fixed yet.

KiCad does not load footprint generators if PCB Editor is not open (ie: can't...

Currently the workaround is to open the PCB editor. Once the PCB Editor is opened, the footprint wizards can be loaded in the Footprint Editor.

Thanks Paul, yeah it is kind of a magic. True enough … I opened the pcb editor and then open the footprint editor, clicked the new footprint using footprint wizard and I’ve got the footprint generator pane listing all the IC packages.
