KiCAD 5.1.5 - Bug in Highlight Collisions Routing Mode?

Hi All:

So today I was working on a power board, using fat traces (4mm) with a fine grid and fine clearances. The Highlight Collision routing mode sometimes seemed to work, but at other times (perhaps other angles) did not. I made a simple test project and was able to duplicate the behavior. Video attached. I wonder if this is something that has slipped through the cracks because typically the trace width is comparable to the grid size and the minimum clearance setting?

Has anyone else seen this behavior? I don’t have a Gitlab account yet but could make one and report it if this looks like a bug to folks.

Using KiCAD 5.1.5 on Windows 7.

Yep, that’s a bug alright. You should report it.
Gitlab supports some oauth providers so you can login with github account if you already have that and few other options as well.

Bug reported on Gitlab as issue #3776

There are certain similarities with https://gitlab.com/kicad/code/kicad/issues/1827 which was fixed after 5.1.5. It’s at least remotely possible that it implicitly changed this behavior, too. Can you test with the post-5.1.5 testing builds? https://kicad-downloads.s3.cern.ch/index.html?prefix=windows/testing/5.1/

It looks like a patch was just committed. Impressive turnaround time!

I’ll try a 5.1 testing build next week unless somebody else gets to it first.

Repeatable bugs are usually fixed very quickly.
