I would like to setup hotkeys for increased efficiency but I am currently struggling as I feel like a beginner KiCad user.
Was wondering whether seasoned KiCad veterans would be willing to share their .hotkeys file for me to tryout for starters and then possibly modify to suit my needs.
Change “Switch to next Grid” to “Alt + N”
Assign “N” hotkey to “Edit Grids” or anything else.
Once you have several/many grids in the Symbol & Schematic Editors, miss-keying the M for Move hotkey and hitting the N hotkey will cause an often unnoticed grid change: a real nuisance.
Yeah this happened to me once. Had to change grid and then in schematic redo everything. G hotkey really helped here - it somehow the schematic symbol with current grid size which caused me Warnings during ERC.
I tried something similar in Layout editor but G here does not align parts with grid size. Do you know if there is any way to do it?
Select the whole schematic, right mouse click and select “Align elements to grid” solves the schematic off grid problem. No need to drag everything.
There are a number of “Aligns …” at the top of the PCB list of hotkeys, but no assignments. No align to grid function is available.
