1)This blue highlight is quite annoying. I hope it can be more thin, as many letters are way harder to read. (image removed due new user restrictions)
2)If i just try to wire in schematics like before, it doesnt snap anymore. This one highly annoying and for me blocker to even continue trying nightly.
3)When i load pcbnew, update PCB with changes, i cannot use anymore Move (M) to move component to any place. Even if try to pick any part and press M or G, they just jump to center of screen.
I understand it might be just work in progress, then it is ok.
Or some new way of moving things, but then, on my observation (IMHO!), EE is very conservative people, and they will be annoyed that default behavior is changed.
You can suggest to try something new, but changing established design “flow” is unpleasant.
Not only that, but as can be seen in the additional text besides that option, the color can also be changed.
There was lengthy discussion when the highlight color indicator was added. You can still add a wishlist item for something better. For example having a highlight rectangle around the text instead of highlighted individual letters was suggested. But do you really need to read the texts while something is selected, or is it just you have been accustomed to seeing them?
It was about “default experience” which is important for those who are migrating. Ofcourse i can adjust settings, but migration should not end with endless settings adjustment by default.
In my case it happened because i imported settings from previous kicad (and it is mostly “defaults”).
After i just deleted ~/.config/kicadnightly configs and used defaults (instead of import), it works fine.
I think since there was discussion and i am late to party, i will manage to adapt. Majority opinion is more important and you are right, it is not critical at all, just minor discomfort like too bright blue leds on equipment
Thank you
