Is there a way to copy all used footprints into the project?

I hereby certify that I am not simply asking someone else to design a footprint for me.

This is an auto-generated message that is in place on the “footprints” section of the KiCad.info forum. If I remove it and ask for a footprint to be designed anyway, I understand that I will be subject to forum members telling me to go design my own footprint or referring me to a 3rd party footprint site.

I am planning to commission the layout of my design to an external service provider. The schematic is done by me and I have all footprints and a bunch of custom footprints in my global library. Is there an easy way to have kicad copy all these footprints into my project as a local library?

Never used that, but I believe from PCB Editor you can go to:
File > Export > Footprint to New Library
then select Project, click OK and choose the new library location and name.
KiCad will ask you to update footprints reference to the new library, so click Yes or No depends what you want.
