I need to change all the PTH on my PCBs to NPTH (on 12 different designs) is there a way to do this for all rather than clicking E and changing in the menu for each individual hole?
Hopefully you have used footprints, not vias. It’s easy to change footprints, either by changing them in the corresponding symbols in the schematic (which can be done all symbols at once in the Edit Symbol Fields dialog) and updating the pcb, or by using the Change Footprints dialog in the pcb editor if you don’t have symbols for them.
This have to be repeated for each different kind of footprint, though, but I doubt you have as many library footprints (different hole sizes) as instances.
Thank you, that is a lot less work than doing it in the in the PCB editor!
Can you explain why you need to do this? It’s a very unusual request.
Sure, it’s an unusual situation,
They are single-sided boards and the Fab house decided to drill random holes in the each PCB in panel to register each PCB into the spoil board for the CNC for cutting (as they didn’t want to use registration pins in PTH holes) and I didn’t want them V cut.
So, resending them the files with everything as NPTH and instructions to use any of the 1mm holes for registration pins on the panels when CNC cutting the panels to avoid anything getting lost in translation.
Could you not have just added some registration NPTHs with silkscreen legends to highlight them?
No, adding holes is not an option in this case, as the PCBs are reproductions of vintage boards that need to be 1:1 of the originals. So have just switched all PTH to NPTH with the method advised above.
