Is it possible to save the 'assign footprints' page as an excel file?

I hereby certify that I am not simply asking someone else to design a footprint for me.

This is an auto-generated message that is in place on the “footprints” section of the KiCad.info forum. If I remove it and ask for a footprint to be designed anyway, I understand that I will be subject to forum members telling me to go design my own footprint or referring me to a 3rd party footprint site.

Before I write out the long list of the ‘assign footprint’ page I just thought I would ask if it is possible to copy and paste it somehow into excel so that each row and column has its own row and column in excel?

I take it you mean Tools > Assign Footprints in the schematic editor.

I couldn’t do it. The problem is when I selected multiple rows and chose Copy, examining the copy buffer showed that only one row was copied. Pasting in a LibreOffice spreadsheet confirmed that only one row had been copied.

Maybe it differs by platform, Maybe you need to put in a feature request to copy all selected rows.

KiCad 8.0.6, Linux

I ought to learn to use the assign footprint page. But…I do use the “edit symbol fields” page which I copy/paste into Excel to produce a BOM. That includes footprints.

Ok yes, the table in Edit Symbol Fields can be copied as a table so that’s the workaround. I guess the difference is that window is using a table widget whereas the Assign Footprint window isn’t.

I have never used ‘assign footprint’ (if need I would probably be able to find where it is  ). BOM generated by KiCad (as csv) I paste into my spreadsheet to generate my BOM. There is footprint field in BOM. Are the information in BOM not enough for you?

I called Walter’s Widget Works to ask about this and they are unaWare. They Wonder What???
