Is DNP required when excluded from board

Is “Do Not Populate” still required to exclude parts from PnP machine although it marked as “Exclude from board” and “Exclude from BOM”.

For documentation purpose, I have symbol (with different value) near attached part as alternative. So it not used, but I do not want to marked with “red cross”.

Just make a schematic-only symbol (#SYM) and you can draw anything you want. It is purely decorative:
