Interior cut not rendering with raytracing

Elsewhere someone said it would work with raytracing but it looks like the interior cut is
somehow too shallow. The board edge looks OK and it does seem to cut something. I did play
around and saw that the holes are rendered with realism turned off. Also it works if I turn off
show filled areas. So at least I can see that the cuts are there.

What Kicad version?

I’ve built boards with cut outs that remove material from all layers, within a solid pcb outline.

You are implying that you want to remove material from ONLY a buried layer. It would help if you define what you want to achieve.

5.1.10 but i have a fresh copy to try
im just doing a cutout, a hole you can see through,
i found workarounds as i mentioned
ill delete the post if its fixed in the one i just downloaded

I don’t think the 3d viewer shows the interior cuts. You should look with the Gerber viewer and you should see it ok.

Version 5.1.11 on Linux shows interior cuts.

Make sure the cutout is a continuous line without gaps or crossings.

@ringo458 please describe what exact steps did you perform.
How do you draw your “interior cut”, and if you have rebuilt copper zones afterwards.
As @eelik says, PCB routed openings are displayed correctly in the 3d viewer.
Also, does it happen to you only in Raytracing or also in a regular 3d view?

I draw an internal cut on a board and used the 3d view to check it out:

How ever, after I update my zones with ‘B’:

All seems as expected:
