Importing rats nest & components from Eschema to PCBnew

Perhaps this has already been implemented and I’ve missed to option or how to.

If I create a project with multiple hierarchical sheets, is there a way to tell PCBnew to keep the components and rats nest connections together – but separated by small gaps from the other imported ratsnest bundles.

E.g. if the project has 10 sheets, keep the parts from each sheet into a small ratsnest grouping when importing - and obvious enough so you can highlight and move the block as one.

When we layout a circuit - the sheets might represent a power section, analog front end, display, etc. So keep the foot prints for each group closer together in the bundles.

That would make it easier to then move each bundle to a board area and spread out for the design.

If this is already implemented - can some provide a hint on how to?

just select on the schematic the hierarchical block, all contained footprints are selected on the pcb, then pack and move. If you plan to do a lot of moving blocks around you can do a goup. (i suppose you are on 8.0.x)

I actually have three versions installed, as I am trying to migrate projects from older to newer versions.

I see how to do it in V8. Thx
