I have a file in Inkscape that contains what I want to use as edge cuts as well as the top silk to help with some placement. I’m exporting these as two separate DXF files because Kicad doesn’t allow loading multiple layers and want to import both at the same absolute position so that they line up together like they do in Inkscape. I have this working but have no idea why the values that ended up working are the ones that do. The location in the dialog seems to be totally divorced from the position in the grid and not correspond at all to the position values displayed at the bottom. Am I totally misunderstanding how this is supposed to work or is this functionality broken? In order to get my images relatively centered into the frame I had to use x: -350, y: 1650.
Use the space bar to set dx/dy to zero at the current pointer position. Works like magic.
That was one of the first things I tried but it doesn’t seem to work. 0, 0 seems to always be at the very top middle way above the frame.
