KiCad 7. I’m trying to import a logo I made in Inkscape to the silkscreen. It doesn’t seem to matter what I do, it always ends up in KiCad as an unfilled outline. I’ve tried Import Graphics from svg, and the svg2shenzhen extension to create a footprint. I’ve saved it as a PNG from Inkscape, then used the Image Converter to save it as a footprint. Every time it comes in as an unfilled outline.
What do I need to do to get around this?
Can you attach it?
Also I’ve fixed some SVG import issues recently, you can try out 7.0 testing builds.
So the problem extends much more than just in importing an svg. I’ve also drawn the logo in a photo editor and exported
as a png (so it was never a vector image) and used Image Converter to convert to a footprint, same problem.
I’ve tried creating a footprint directly in KiCad by using the drawing tools. My logo has text and then a thick line with a triangle centered in it. The text shows up filled, but the 1mm thick line and the triangle drawn with the shape tool show up as ouitlines.
@sbernardi : note that the “outline mode” in the pcb-editor is not available as icon on the left hand side toolbar.
You have to use the main menu bar View–>Drawing Mode–>Sketch graphic items
