Import gerber edge cuts as silkscreen layer?

I’m creating a carrier board for a daughter card. I’d like to print the daughter card’s outline on the carrier board. The daughter card has a complex shape, but I do have its gerber files, and I found the layer that appears to be the edge cut layer.

How might I import those edge cuts onto the top-side silk screen layer (and maintain proper dimensions, etc)?

P.S, Kicad v 7.0.8 on WIndows 11

Well heck, I think I answered my own question, but let me know if I got this wrong:

  • Use Gerber Viewer to open the gerber file.
  • Select File => Export to PCB Editor and export the desired layer
  • In PCB Editor, select File => Append Board to add the newly created .kicad_pcb file

Bam. Done.
