There is a schematic on the cape prior to my toggling ideas around with KiCAD and then I added some parts in the schematic but…
a. I am not sure if my schematic is correct.
b. I do not know much about schematic making.
c. The template does not allow for pin assignment from/to the headers on the template.
Having no schematic in KiCad you give up may be even 90% of help you can get from it in designing PCB.
The main task realized by PCB design software (like KiCad) is to keep eye on your PCB to be in accordance with your schematic. Having no schematic KiCad don’t knows what is correct and what wrong at PCB.
I hope so because we are seeing a rise lately of people getting very hot headed and blaming Kicad because their project won’t work and it boils down to No Schematic Almost as if they can’t be bothered. Kicad (All Cad) has a workflow, and can be quite flexible, at least it is in the good software (Kicad ) but there are rules set in stone and one of them is, make a schematic, it’s easy and Kicad can keep an eye on your mistakes
