I don't know how to post

Brand new member and I can’t seem to find any info on how to make a post that includes images. There doesn’t seem to be any way to embed or attach them
I tried searching the forum site for posting help but I couldn’t find any thing (perhaps I just missed them)
Thanks for any help in this.

New members have to read a few articles, e.g. some FAQs, or make some (text only) postings, or wait for a moderator to upgrade you, to have permission to add attachments.

When you will be allowed to - just drag a file into your post.

Trust Level 1 — Basic

At Discourse, we believe reading is the most fundamental and healthy action in any community. If a new user is willing to spend a little time reading, they will quickly be promoted to the first trust level.

Get to trust level 1 by…

  • Entering at least 5 topics
  • Reading at least 30 posts
  • Spend a total of 10 minutes reading posts

In this case a mod stumbled by and took care of it.

Images are usually allowed with new members though. I think there is a limit. I usually do copy and paste. Most of my images are screen captures which I can save to the clipboard.

I found this, but I don’t know how accurate it is.

Maybe someone (@hermit ) who has completed the whole obstacle course may comment?

I think most are somewhat vaguely aware of how this works because I looked it up and posted it sometime back. The first level is simply there for spam protection. Many times them mods will see the poster is legit on a first post and simply move them up one level. That happened here.

I think new level for spam is the most of it. I think being able to edit WIKI is a distant second reason for elevating someone. The one down side of the system is that some knowledgeable people are only here as long as they need to be.

I don’t think that has much to do with the forum system.

Easily my favorite forum software though.
