How to update kicad

it might seem a silly question:
how do I update Kicad?
I havent used it for a while, now I’m unsure. Can I just download the latest version and just install?

This is what I’ve got now:

Build Info:
Date: Jan 15 2022 13:36:27
wxWidgets: 3.1.5 (wchar_t,wx containers)
Boost: 1.76.0
OCC: 7.5.0
Curl: 7.78.0-DEV

Thanks,
Marc

Yes, on Windows you can just download and install 6.0.7. All of your preferences, etc. should be saved from 6.0.1.

On Windows V5.1 and V6.0 can coexist.
Installing V6.0.y when V6.0.x is already present gives a warning and overwrites the previous version. It is even possible to go backwards if you really need to.
You can save data and time by fetching the “Lite” version, which leaves the libraries alone

Thanks folks!
That brings up an issue I encounter once in a while:
If you don’t use KiCad regulary, some actually common things appear to be tricky suddenly…
I tried to find hints regarding an update at the “about”, for example.

Funny, but quite true. If you quit doing something it’ll slowly start to leave you.
