How to turn on net of interest

I have just switched to KiCAD 5.1. I love it so far. I am re-configuring my PCB and the rats nest is very busy. If I remember correctly, there is a way to not show all the rats nest but when I move a component, I will see the net(s) of interest connected to that component. I have turned off rats nest globally. How do I get KiCAD to show the rats nest (nets) only of the the component I am moving?

There is a local ratsnest mode but that one is for showing the connections for components that you specifically select. Sadly there is no mode where the footprint you move right now shows the lines. See:

The “local ratsnest” is only displayed when moving a part. You can see it without moving the part by selecting it, then typing “M” key.

Edit: I am using 5.0, may have changed in 5.1? I hope not!

Thank you Rene. I can work around it for this board.
bobc, The “m” only moves in ver 5.1 for now.

Sadly it seems it is vanished. And clasified as a wishlist bug by @Seth_h
I am not really sure about that. Could you add information on how this worked in v5.0 to the bug report? (I no longer have access to 5.0)

That’s a pity.

As soon as a part is moved, a local ratsnest is displayed. I can’t imagine why that feature was removed, especially when it was something put back in after local ratsnest was removed from the modern canvas.

“Don’t worry”, they said, “you will be able to see the local ratsnest when you move the part, and we think it is better like that anyway”.

I am in the process of going back to an earlier version. On a busy board, the move command with relevant nets is necessary.

Now, I can see the local rats nest with the press of the “M”. It will increase my productivity ten fold.

Just curious:
That tenfold increase of productivity, is that in the time for staring at ratsnest lines, or for the number of boards you make in a day from concept to finished product?

For me it would mean a 10X reduction in figuring out where that ratsnest wire should go.

KiCad is not currently perfect in keeping ratsnests wires separate of each other. Sometimes it takes a bit of time to work out where things should actually connect.

The curved ratsnests should improve this already.
