How to turn off "hidden" text?

This likely has a simple answer, if only I knew the right question to ask…

After using the Find function to look for an errant power symbol, many of the symbols are covered with purple text of all of their nominally hidden fields - Library Link, Library Description, Keywords, etc.

In the Symbol Properties pane, Show box is not checked for these; checking and unchecking this has no effect. All I want to know is how to turn this off again - preferably globally rather than per-symbol. Any ideas?

In general, you should always keep your KiCad up to date. The current stable version of KiCad is V9.0.2. With each new mayor version (first number) you get quite a lot of fresh bugs together with all the new features. And those bugs get discovered and squashed as many more people start using the new version. KiCad releases bug-fix updates (third number) about every 4 to 6 weeks.

I think I have seen this bug mentioned before on this forum, but can’t recall exactly when. I thought it was fixed in V9.0.2, but don’t see it in the KiCad 9.0.2 Release | KiCad notes.

It will be in 9.0.3: Hidden fields remain visible after search and cannot be hidden again (#20865) · Issues · KiCad / KiCad Source Code / kicad · GitLab

As a workaround you can select the text and hit “delete” on your keyboard. This also sets is as invisible
