In PCB, I can click a track segment , then I can use “Select / Expand Connection” to move my selection up the net. Or I can get the whole lot in one go with “Select all tracks in net”
But it never as I advance, the vias should (or could) be selected also along the route.
They are pads not vias. I had forgotten.
It has been so long since I regularly worked with a thru hole component ! I just forgot about that’s how they look.
I am not used to being able to select a primitive of a footprint in this case a pad of a component… Altium wont let me do that unless I “explode component to free primitives” …
I will go away now and hide. I was having a shower after a hot MTB ride and realised. doh.
(hiding)
Pads can be deselected in the Selection Filter. That’s not perfect because clicking “All items” forgets what was selected previously, and there are no saved states for the filter. I don’t remember anymore, but it’s possible older versions of KiCad had some other way to control selecting pads.
There’s also a setting “Allow Free Pads” in Preferences → PCB Editor → Editing Options which allow moving pads on the board. This may be useful especially for THT components where exact position of pads isn’t critical but moving them may help with routing and positioning.
