How to manage libraries

Hello everybody,
I went from 5 to 6 and I’m fine.
Now I have a doubt about the management of the libraries (since the passage from 5 to 6 was not painless), that is when I have a new object that is not present in the KiCad library I create it, both symbol, footprint, 3D. But when I find the fooprint, but there is no 3D … I can put it, but in fact I modify the standard libraries.
It seems stupid to me to duplicate items in my library …
Someone has undergone insights on how to proceed.

Best Regards

Created, modified and imported symbols, footprints and 3D models need to be placed in Personal Libraries.
Kicad Libraries are periodically updated and if any of your created, modified or imported items are in Kicad Libraries they will be deleted when these updates occur.

Not all footprints have 3D models.

Yes I know, but what I meant is when the imprint is present, but there is no 3D.
Even if I create the 3D separately in my library I then have to associate it with the footprint of the library … by modifying the standard .

Try this:

Select the footprint in the PCB editor and edit it. Go to the 3D properties tab and fill in the 3D model field. This will edit the instance of the footprint on the board, and not the footprint in the system library.

Of course, if you use that footprint a lot you should make a copy, modify the 3D model field, and save in your own footprint library.
