How to Get Single Traces to do Horizontal, Vertical, and 45°?

I have gone to Preferences tab, then Preferences…, then PCB Editor, then clicked on Editing Options, then checked Constrain actions to H, V, 45 degrees, Then clicked on OK. When trying to do a single trace it acts like it is in free routing with arcs.

Make sure Route > Interactive Router Settings > Highlight Collisions > Free Angle Mode is NOT ticked.

Correct, it is NOT ticked.

What is your Kicad version?
Go to Help > About Kicad > Copy version info (top RH corner) left click and then Paste directly into a post here.

I rebooted my Ubuntu V22.04 OS and my KiCad V9.0.3 is working. Thanks.

Pleased to hear the problem solved. I was scratching my head trying to think of what else, other than Free angle mode, could cause the override of the Editing Option.

Maybe:

4.9.2. Track corner mode

KiCad’s router can place tracks with either sharp or rounded (arc) corners when routing in H/V/45 mode. To switch between sharp and rounded corners, use the Track Corner Mode command (hotkey Ctrl+/). When routing with rounded corners, each routing step will place either a straight segment, a single arc, or both a straight segment and an arc. The track posture determines whether the arc or the straight segment will be placed first.
