How to get non-schematic components to the BOM?

Hello,

Some components are not necessarily on the schematic, as these components confuse rather than help, such as IC sockets.
On the other hand I want to have these components in the BoM.
How to organize this properly?

Thanks - Tarik

If I were using IC socket I would probably have defined that socket symbol looking like IC and IC symbol being only rectangle (without pins, without footprint) and put them both at schematic (may be IC symbol inside socked symbol).
I use Laird BMI-S-210-F (frame) + BMI-S-210-C (lid). I have them both at schematic (placed at the same position - lid is a little bigger rectangle). Both have footprints associated with them but lid footprint has only Courtyard rectangle (nothing at cooper). That way I have both of them in BOM.

I’ve put sockets on schematics so they are on BOM and 3D view. I have
placed them outside the main working area and used labels so they are connected electrically. A little painful but my needs are quite limited.

Can you make a library symbol which includes both part and its accessories

Hi,

Thanks for the suggestions. I think these will work, but they compete with notes in notepad++.
At the moment, notepad++ seems to me to be in a good position because of its simplicity and low overhead.

Cheers,
Tarik
