How to exit KiCad flashbang mode on Windows

I understand that there is not a option to turn on Dark UI on KiCad on windows. Is there any workaround (maybe in some of the Kicad’s .json configurations) for that? I have turned on the Dark mode and I can change the colors inside the editors, but not on the default KiCad window.

Lets say I don’t really care about the Schematic’s and PCB editor’s White UI, this doesn’t take much space on the scree, but the default color of the main KiCad screen, is there any way to change that?

I solve that issue by not having main kicad window any bigger than it needs to be. It’s not that much white when it is small.

I’ve got a bit of a different sort of solution.

I mostly don’t bother with “themes” at all. and use “light” for everything, and instead I just turned down the brightness of my monitor to around 12%.

I bought a pretty big (107cm) monitor 2 years ago, and with it’s default settings you would need sunglasses to be able to look at it at all. Turning down overall brightness also saves a bit of energy.

Edit: As qu1ck mentions below, contrast and color reproduction suffers (a bit), but for me it’s still adequate for doing graphical stuff such as pictures, video’s, websites, etc. Whether it’s still acceptable and how far you want to go would be a very personal choice. A contrast setting of 12% also is not really 12%, as when I set it to 0, there is still light coming from the monitor. Eyes are also very non-lineair (more like lorarithmic) ans such numbers do not mean very much.

That is a viable solution if the only thing you do on that PC is work. Otherwise 12% brightness means very poor contrast and color range, which means any media that isn’t text looks like crap.
