Is there a way in KiCAD 8 to draw a straight track between two points?
For some reason, I cannot turn off the H/V/45 degree constraint. I know the “shift space” function (and the corresponding knob in the left menu), but it does not change anything. When I turn off the constraint, the “constraint” indicator in the lower status bar is tuned off, but the behavior, when drawing tracks, is unchanged und still constraint to H, V, 45 degree.
KiCAD can easily deal with straight lines between two points. It is possible to edit the properties of tracks, which has the effect I want. But I would like to have a graphical way, by simply clicking on the start and end-point.
First I thought this should be said vice versa, “Free angle mode is not supported under Shove or Walkaround”, then I noticed it would be redundant and self-evident from the dialog, then I noticed it’s like that no matter how we formulate it, and we still don’t have an explanation.
I would say that drawing freely (using free angles) is not compatible with the idea of Shove or Walkaround. Those two are closely related and use automatic manipulation of track segments. It wouldn’t make sense to force them to keep some oddly angled tracks while trying to otherwise find the best route efficiently.
