How to Auto-finish Track?

I’m looking for an “auto complete” a track. Found the following in the Help Hotkey List:

Screen Shot 2022-03-01 at 3.57.40 PM

Tried to start a track with the “X” hotkey then pressed “F” to auto-finish it. Nothing happens …

Any ideas, please?

I think the hotkey for this feature is reserved, but it is not implemented right now. Maybe the next (or than the next) version

Auto-finish track sounds like a feature useful for a recording studio dealing with a mediocre rock band.

Dear retiredfeline,

This “Auto-finish” looked like an Altium feature I have used 1000’s of times, not because it’s necessary, but for convenience and to save time when laying complex boards.

Or maybe we should all go back to manually laying boards with etch resist tapes, because it’s the “manly” thing to do?

LOL, I should’ve been more careful leaving the ‘reserved for future use’ shortcuts in the code so that people are not forced to dig out their etch resist tape or waterproof markers  My sincerest apologies!

Tom

PS. Autofinish is planned for V7.

From the v6 source:

Thank you, Tom and the whole development team.

We love designing in KiCad!

Relax, I’m looking forward to seeing what the feature will do as much as anyone else. Just recalling a joke from the Norwegian mockumentary Get Ready to be Boyzvoiced. I thought it was funny, the recording studio scene.
