How I select a library?

I am using KiCAD 9. I am trying to import library part(s) into kicad I was successful in downloading and unzipping the parts. Using the instructions at the schematic editor level importing symbols into a local library. I can’t find parts I imported, so using the symbol library browser, I found the symbols from the import and inserted them into the schematic. Using the ERC, I discovered the parts have no footprint. How do I link the symbol to the footprint? I am used to EAGLE. This would be such a trivial step I would go to the command line and type in BOARD and be ready to place&route. How is this done in KiCAD?

It’s in the manual . . .

I have a problem to understand you. After I install KiCad I have everything ready. Installer takes care of everything.

I use only my libraries with all symbols having footprint linked so don’t go through this step but somewhere in menu it have to be. I suppose Tools-Assign Footprints… does it, but I have never tried it and will not do it now.

If I open the pcb in the project, I get a black page with its grid dots and the title page but no foot prints and air wires.

Kicad works differently than Eagle. If you expect a 1:1 substitution you will get disappointed.

My advice is to invest 2…3 hours and follow the “getting started” tutorial on the kicad documentation website. This will teach you the basic fundamentals of kicad and answer the questions you have written here.

You did this ?

and then used F8 . . . or

If you can’t read manuals, watch YouTube videos. Preferably about getting started in KiCAD.

As you didn’t told KiCad to synchronize PCB with schematic KiCad didn’t do it.
I hate programs that know better than me what I want.
