Hey, I’m trying to make a ‘car’ using RT1 relays and DC motors. I made a circuit on a breadboard, but the relay on the schematic does not have the same amount of pins. How do I use the relay then?
I don’t think KiCad is going to help you here . . . come back when you have a Schematic and the start of a PCB laid out and we can help you with your KiCad questions.
But i don’t know how I draw a schematic of the relay since it normally has 8 pins, but on the schematic is only has 5.
Either your relay has multiple pins with the same function, in which case you could use the standard symbol, but use a footprint with duplicate pad numbers, or if your relay really has 8 distinct pins, you should probably just draw your own symbol (and possibly footprint).
Like if your relay looks like this
then you see that the right 3 columns of pins are connected together, so the symbol would only need one connection there. Or you could use stacked pins. Lots of choices.
I was just using the wrong symbol. Thanks for the help.
What is that symbol called?
That is a screenshot from a RT1 relay data sheet, not sure if there is a matching symbol in KiCad. You can draw one yourself if needed.
