I don’t know how to put in capacitors and resistors

If you want to leap into KiCad and have a project in mind, I recommend doing it with Chris’ Getting To Blinky tutorial series on youtube. Earlier this year when I started out I had a small project I needed to do, but a new years resolution to go cold turkey on EagleCAD meant I had to do it in KiCad. What I did was worked along with Chris’ videos, but the result at the end of the tutorial series was the small PCB design I needed, not the 555 project the tutorials build.

The steps were the same, I needed to create a footprint that wasn’t standard at exactly the same place in the process the videos show you how to. And (to my surprise as much as anyone’s) the PCBs I designed came back from the fab functional.

“Getting to Blinky” tutorial is great, I wish it were available when I was starting with Kicad.

Yeah, and ask lots of questions here.
Even watching the videos will leave you with questions.

There are also other good videos on youtube along with Chris’ excellent getting to blinky series.
