How do i get .step instead of .dcm files for 3d models on kicad 8.02

Hi all, i’m having issues getting the 3d models imported into kicad 8.02. Normally you’d use a .step file to add a 3d view of the component, however when i download the file from lets say octoparts, i’m given a .dcm file instead of the .step file. All other files like the .lib and sym file areok. Can someone explain how i can get the .step file instead of the .dcm file, thank you.

At their website they say ‘click to download .step file’ and when you click you get .dcm file ?

I guess it depends on a component. I’ve tested some on Octopart. The links took me either to SnapEda or Ultralabrarian and STEP files were available.
