How do I connect my GND copper pour on signal layer with my GND plane on a 4 layer board?

I hereby certify that I am not simply asking someone else to design a footprint for me.

This is an auto-generated message that is in place on the “footprints” section of the KiCad.info forum. If I remove it and ask for a footprint to be designed anyway, I understand that I will be subject to forum members telling me to go design my own footprint or referring me to a 3rd party footprint site.

I’m designing a board with 4 layers, including a GND layer. My THT components connected to ground through this layer, however my SMD components are on my signal layer, so I created a GND copper fill there.

Now I have two layers with GND zones, so I’m wondering, how do I connect the two together? My GND is the Negative end of the battery I’m connecting to my PCB, and as that is only connected to the GND layer, I want to ensure it’s also connected to the GND zone on my top signal layer.

Assuming that they are both named “GND”, just use vias.
