How do I batch-edit the unit to which pins are associated?

I’ve found a footgun with which I appear to love shooting myself. Here’s the flow:

  • Create a new part
  • Paste a bunch of pins from a spreadsheet into the pin table (this is awesome and I love it)
  • Decide I want to break the part up into a bunch of units (aside, I want a +unit button rather than needing to type a number).
  • Realize the default is for all pins to be on all units (we do we even have that lever?).
  • Change all the pins, one-by-one, to unit A so that I can cut/paste them into their appropriate homes later.

Is there a good way to change the unit association of a pin faster than one-by-one (with a drop-down box no less)? It’s really very painful.

Thanks!

  1. Put an A on the clipboard (for example type it in some text string somewhere and copy it).
  2. Select all fields that you want to be an Unit “A” and then paste the A from the clipboard

Huh, that worked. Thanks! I attempted that first, but thought it wouldn’t work when group selection didn’t work. Turns out you have to click to select one cell, then click again and drag to select the group, which is somewhat surprising.
