How do I add pads in the pcb editor?

I am sorry, its been a while since the last time I used kicad so…
there was an icon/menu, that could create pads (smd/tht), with settings about shapes and sizes, but I can’t find it anymore in the pcbeditor?

Pads can’t be “free floating” in a board, they are always parts of footprints. You can create and edit footprints in the footprint editor.

As far as I remember, there was never an option to add a free pad. In earlier versions, you couldn’t even add free via.
You can add a footprint consisting of a single pad and that should solve the problem.
