Help -- unexplained changes in interface

I was working in pcbnew. I went to delete a trace element (backspace key). I may have hit another key such as f12 or insert.

The interface changed. Layer colors changed. When I click on the “add filled zones” button and right click, the menu to fill or unfil does not appear. Many other things do not work right such as the cursor appearance and response.

How do I recover?

Hit F9 if you prefer the default “canvas”, view and toolset. It’s in the View menu, too.
