Half side vias?

how are these called, and is it possible in Kicad ?

just a 2 sided pcb

• so if I put a via on a edge cut, JLCPCB will know how to process that?
• these are square pads and it is not just cut off the board, the sides seems to be copper filled

there maybe is an alternative, I dont have much space for connection on the pcb itself, and the solder/wires also must be flush
hence my interest in the subject

Castellated edge; plated half holes in board edge

[image] This kind of edge where the board edge goes through plated holes and the holes are cut in the middle is called castellation castellated edge plated half-holes semi-plated holes etc. It’s used in PCB modules which can be soldered to other PCB’s. I misunderstood… I assumed by the wording “half side…” you meant one-side of a two sided PCB.

Yes, castellated is what you want…

Examples on Edge using different THT’s and Via… This is an old screenshot that doesn’t have half-depth vias… as I showed in first photo(now deleted)…
