Grey box around component in kicad-sch

Hi,

Components in one or more schematics created with previous versions of kicad show a grey box around the component. On the lower right is a circle with a sinus in it visible.
When I delete the component and place it again from the library the grey box is gone.
What is the purpose of this grey box and how can I easily get rid of it (without the delete and place action) ?

Using kicad 9 on Linux Debian.

Is it “Do not place” ? or is it a Simulation symbol ?

The "Do not Populate checkbox in the symbol properties also shows a red cross though the symbol. rolofth68 probably would have mentioned that if that was there.

I also don’t recall a “Circle with a sinus”. A screenshot may help here.

This is the “excluded from simulation” indicator. You can turn this off in the View menu.

Hi,

I made a screenshot yesterday but totally forgot to add it.

this is from the “exclude from simulation” checkbox. Which - to me - is a bit annoying. Hence I stopped using “exclude from simulation”

Thank you, that did the trick.

By default, but it’s configurable now I believe
