Grayed out: "toggle net highlighting"

For some reason my “toggle net highlighting” is grayed out.

Why is this?
All I want is to hightlight a net if I click on the track or hover the mouse over it.

You have to select a net to highlight first before you can use that toggle button. The three ways are explained here.

If you just want to highlight a net, you don’t need that toggle button, it isn’t toggleing what you seem to think. I just use the hotkey ` (backtick).

The problem is, that the hotkey ‘' works very unreliable! I belief the reason is, that the character '’ is only released, after the key is hit and the space bar is pressed.
In my case I can get ‘’" only to works highlighting a net, if I press repeatedly Shift and `
On the German keyboard it behaves similar to the ‘^’ key. The keyboard does not release the character unless another button is pressed afterwards.

Am I the only one having this problem?

Marko

The ` key is problematic for some keyboard layouts. Change the binding to something else in Preferences.

Yes. Once I changed ‘' to 'F1' things work fine. So the problem really has to do with the German Keyboard layout and the '’ key.

Right, doesn’t work in Finnish, either. Shortcut i18n is a PITA, and they may work differently on different platforms.
