Gold Finger Connecting Traces for Plating

I have a PCB board designed with one edge having a double sided gold fingered edge connector. To have the gold plated during manufacture, I must connect all the edge connector fingers with 0.008 inch trace. I was wanting to have this connector trace be on the outside of the board edge so that it will be cut off after plating.
Two Issues:

1. I can’t seem to draw a trace across the board edge. I have removed the edge and I will add it back after the traces for all the fingers are drawn. Is there an easier way to do this?
2. KiCad doesn’t appear to let me connect pads together that are not connected in the design netlist. Is there any way to change a setting such that I an connect these pads?

1. This might help. You are probably violating rules checks with the edge. Chose a mode that will let you violate the DRC.

That did it!! I didn’t think of a setting being in the routing menu. I was looking in preferences.
