When I create the gerber file it prepends the project name to the files for instance the front copper is RF Amplifier-F_Cu.gbr how to i plot it without the RF Amplifier- being added because if I dont remove this JCB says I have incorrect gerber files.

are you leaving space in the name?
I use it like this, and I have had no problems
The Gerber spec is silent in the file name. I believe it is more JCB having incorrect software.
