Generating an "Insert" eeschema under OSX

I am trying to create several buses on eeschema, running 5.1.4-0, and I can’t find a way to generate an [Insert] on the Macbook Pro keyboard to create successive labels D0 (sure, easy enough) but then you are supposed to easily use [Insert] to create more D1, D2, etc. on the pads below the starting pad.

Of course my Mac (running 10.13.6) does not have an [Insert] key…serious online searching didn’t help.

So I tried Karabiner - no joy there either. Pretty sure I set Karabiner up correctly…yup the Eventviewer says an [Insert] is being generated.

Is it possible the OSX/MAC build did not include [Insert]??

clutching at straws here, can’t believe I am the only person experiencing this - perhaps if I just RTFM some more…

You can set this hotkey to anything you want. preferences->preferences - hotkeys - schematic editor - repeat last item.

Ah, thanks!

For OS-X (10.13.6) one goes to the menu:

KiCad/Preferences/Hot Keys/Schematic Editor/Repeat Last Item. (not the Preferences pull down menu on the menu bar.)

I set it to Shift_F7 and it works correctly.

Hope this helps someone else…

Are you sure you are on version 5.1.4? doulbe check under help -> about kicad. (all version 5.1.x builds should have the preference dialog as i describe it above. What you describe is how 5.0.x looked like)

Yes. Quite sure. I’ve included the screen capture of the notice…22%20AM

Let’s try that again. Looks like the image upload didn’t work…22%20AM

Ah, looks like you need to enable amazonaws.com to see the images. I had that turned off by default on NoScript. Now I see the screen capture…

I can confirm, Kicad 5.1.4 on OSX has two places called “Preferences”: one in the Kicad menu (next to the Apple menu), and one menu called Preferences (which contains Manage Symbol/FP Library, Configure Paths, Set Language, and Toolset (graphics) selection). It’s a point of confusion for sure!
